Admission Process
The admission process involves the following steps:
- NUCS PhD Admission Test (NPAT)
- Structure: Two parts, 120 marks total, no negative marking.
- Part I (General Aptitude): 60 MCQs (60 marks, 60 minutes). Covers reading comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, and data interpretation.
- Part II (Specialization Specific): 60 MCQs (60 marks). Based on the chosen research area.
- Exemption: Candidates with NET, SET, GATE, M.Phil., or other eligible fellowships are exempt from NPAT. However, those applying for the NUCS Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) must appear for NPAT.
- Structure: Two parts, 120 marks total, no negative marking.
- Personal Interview
- Conducted by a panel of experts.
- Candidates must present a short research proposal highlighting their research area, its importance, and uniqueness.
- Evaluation criteria include research problem articulation, subject understanding, and potential contribution.
- Weightage: NPAT (70%), Interview (30%).
- Minimum 50% marks required in both NPAT and interview separately.
